What happens next

The main principles of the scheme have now been established from the earlier consultation. The detailed highway scheme design has been completed for Phase 1 and works comence September 26th 2005.

Following exhibitions of the preferred option, the Traffic Orders required to make the changes will be advertised. This will provide a formal opportunity for anyone who has any objections to what is being proposed to let us know. The Traffic Orders will cover issues such as the pedestrianisation of Regent Road, changes to parking, prohibition of right turns and the making of one-way streets.

The detailed design of the proposals will then be finalised, taking into account any changes arising as a result of the published Traffic Regulation Orders.

The bulk of construction work will be carried out over the winter months to minimise disruption to businesses.
